Unlike other production managers that are only familiar with one side of production. I have worked on set as a Gaffer, Camera Op, Director, and DP. This insight gives me an advantage over other production managers and gives me the ability to see things that might otherwise go unchecked or unnoticed. This prevents any mistakes and prevents unexpected occurrences that can hinder a production. We are always running against the clock on and you need to have knowledge of all departments to successfully execute on set. This is especially true on bigger sets where the margin for error is zero.
I understand that every production is unique and that to ensure the best result possible that diligent pre-production is essential. I am also extremely budget conscious and have always brought my clients under budget to maximize profit. This is a business at the end of the day and I know it is sometimes hard for creatives to put this into context. That’s why I like to work closely with all departments to give everyone the tools they need to create the best work possible while maintaining profitable margins for my clients.
It isn’t all about just crunching numbers and budgeting either. This is a team sport and we are only as good as the crew that we hire. That’s why I vet all crew members to make sure that they are the right fit for the position because one bad apple can cause disruptions to a set.
Even with how stressful the job of production manager can be the most important thing is to love what you do and have fun, create beautiful content and create a great atmosphere for the crew. This is my passion and there is nothing more than I love then being on set and seeing the final take on a martini shot. Knowing all that it took to complete the production, I live for those moments.
